Do's & Dont's for Shop Front Signs

We have been in the sign making industry for 35 years, so it's safe to say we know a thing or two about how best to utilise your shop front space and your branding, to create the most noticeable signage.

With our knowledge and experience, we have put together our recommendations for your shop front sign.

1. Keep it simple. Don't put too much information on your sign. Sometimes just your logo is enough - the point of a sign is to make you noticeable to customers and passers-by. So ensuring your logo/name stands out is the most important thing (sometimes it's good to use your window space for contact info + products / services).

2. Stick with your branding/logo. Keep everything consistent as it makes your business look professional.

3. Avoid trends. This includes colour and font trends, or you will forever be changing your sign.

4. Use strong contrast colours. Make sure the background colour contrasts with the logo colour so the sign is readable and stands out.

5. Choose a sign that best suits your shop front. Sometimes you don't need a back panel as your building can act as the sign background, so we just put letters onto your building. This saves £££ too! Or maybe you just need a projecting swing sign due to your positioning and available space. Or a folded tray is usually the best solution if your sign is going onto a brick wall as the box style stands off the wall more making it noticeable.

If you need help / advise on what type of sign will work best for you, just pop us a message on Instagram or send us an email and we'd be delighted to help.
